Baseball is considered to be America’s pastime and many of you probably have been lucky enough to go to a game or two with your dad. So in honor of fathers everywhere, we will talk about baseball and an important lesson we can apply today from one of the game’s all-time greats.

Joe DiMaggio. Does that name ring a bell?

In the era of baseball powerhouses such as Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Hank Aaron, Joe DiMaggio was able to earn himself the title, “The Greatest Living Ballplayer.” Imagine being able to put that on your resume!

But the title was well deserved. DiMaggio gave it his all in every play, every season, and every game.

When asked why he hustled so much, even when it had no bearing on the Yankees’ fate that season, DiMaggio replied, “because there is always some kid who may be seeing me for the first time. I owe him my best.”

Today, we live in a digital world where people and businesses are essentially “at bat” 24×7. While it’s hard to admit, we are judged by the appearance of our website, how many Facebook friends we have, what reviews say about us, and how many followers we have on Twitter.

For dealers, making the best “at bat” online is especially important because 9 out of 10 car buyers start their search online and 7 of the 8 ways they search also happen online.

Every time a kid saw Joe DiMaggio play for the first time, they can say they saw him at his best. How are you making sure your customers can say that about your dealership in every interaction, across every channel,  every time?
