More Volunteerism – Naked Lime Helps Telitha's Hope
Winter in Ohio is always a hot (or rather cold) topic of conversation, but the hearts of our Naked Lime specialists were a little warmer this winter knowing we helped spread a little warmth and hope over the streets of Dayton.
Our team in Dayton was honored to help Telitha’s Hope, an organization that distributes handmade quilts and other needed items to local homeless people. The project began in 2012 and, with the help of many volunteers, was able to deliver 10 quilts to local organization Jeremiah’s Letter to be distributed during the week of Thanksgiving that year.
In February 2013, Telitha’s Hope began to distribute quilt kits to various organizations. The kits consist of 25 fabric squares, fabric paint, and patterns. When the decorated squares are returned to a Telitha’s Hope, another volunteer sews them into a finished quilt. To date they have distributed over 50 quilt kits, which are in various stages of completion.
That’s where we come in. Our web services teams in Dayton each decorated squares for a quilt to be given to a person in need. It was a welcome way to put our creativity to good use.
Pictures of other completed quilts and information about how you can help can be found on the Telitha’s Hope Facebook page. They also accept donations of bedding and quilt batting used for filling and finishing the quilts if you know anyone who could donate such materials.
Homelessness is a daunting problem with no simple solution. Don’t let that stop you from making a small commitment that could make a big difference in the life of someone who lives the problem every day.
