Social Ads: Choose Your Channel, Don't Blow Your Budget
Facebook established itself as the king of social media as it grew exponentially over the last 7 years. However, as time passes, more and more social networks threaten Facebook’s share of the market. Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, and many more have already emerged as major players. New platforms like Snapchat and Vine frequently pop up to cause their own blips on the social media radar.
With all these major social media platforms comes the question: Where should I spend my social media advertising budget?
Facebook advertising is working better than ever and has more targeting options than any other social media platform. Adobe System’s The Social Intelligence Report – Q4 2013 reports the following year-over-year Facebook advertising data:
- Average click-through rate (CTR) is up 365%.
- Average cost per click (CPC) is even with last year in the U.S.
- Clicks are up 125%.
- Social engagement with brand posts is up 180%.
- Posts with images are up 10% and produce 650% higher engagement than regular text posts.
Other social media platforms, such as Twitter and Pinterest, are maturing rapidly in terms of advertising share and capabilities. These networks are drawing the attention of advertisers who wish to expand their reach, but right now Facebook still has control of the market share by a wide margin and produces the best results at a low cost to businesses.
